I quit uni and moved to Bytom, as I got accepted for a last year of professional ballet school (which we don’t have in Cracow).
I live in 10sqm flat with a mattress and ballet cloths. Ballet training till this point goes well, but suddenly, pandemic hits. We get closed in our homes, wondering everyday when we’ll be able to get back to school and pass the exam. Months are passing, stamina and strength is gone even though we have online classes (barre by the kitchen sink).
One spark of joy in this rather hopeless situation was the fact that I had huge windows in my room. In almost the highest building in Bytom city, i could enjoy gorgeous industrial panorama of coal mining city. As there was a lot of wind, the sky was always clear and sunny, these windows kept me from despair and losing my mind. I had a huge need to create. Thank God, between few things I have had there, there was my camera. These were the first „advanced selfies” I created. I found inspiration for the makeup on Insta, and used the only furniture I had, the turquoise chair. 90% of the photos were out of focus, but it brought me some joy in that time.
